Today, the great city of Los Angeles will be celebrating the Lakers 15th NBA championship that, due to the city of LA’s dismal finances, will be paid for primarily by the Lakers themselves and local donations. You can watch the parade coverage live by clicking here.
Everybody loves a good parade, and we can only hope that Mark Madsen will make a cameo appearance for some “Who let the dogs out?” action.
This entire post is going to be a tribute of all things Lakers, but I want to get this first video out of the way. It is some great footage of Sunday night’s riot, featuring none other than Laker super-reporter Elie Seckbech:
Now that such ugliness is behind us, let’s concentrate on the great 2008-09 team. The NBA is all over YouTube, putting up video gem after video gem. First, we have Kobe Bryant’s Top 10 plays of 2009:
And now a recap of the Lakers run through the Western Conference:
Don’t forget about the culmination of the entire season, the trophy presentation. For some incredible comedy, go straight to the 1:01 mark for a great interview with the son of the great owner and playboy Dr. Jerry Buss, Joey Buss, who is almost as stunned as Mark Madsen.
And no Lakers season recap could be complete without the messmerizing Lakers philosophy of bball guru Vic the Brick. Feeling you!

Nasty is the best. The best part is when he asks Beetlejuice Jeff Van Gundy if his brother, Ron Jeremy Stan Van Gundy ever got laid in high school.

After the Lakers game 1 demolition of the Orlando Tricks, everyone is pilling on the Lake Show bandwagon, including Young Weezy. I’m not a big fan of Lil’ Wayne myself, but as one of the world’s biggest Kobe apologists I have been bumping this track all morning.
For more on Kobe, check out my man Vic “the Brick” Jacobs, the greatest Kobe fan in the world. Feeling you!

2009 seems destined to be the year of the King, as Lebron has been pulling out all the stops. Last night was just another example of his greatness, with LBJ somehow resurrecting his Cavs after Hedo Turkoglu had seemingly stuck a knife in Cleveland’s heart. A 2-0 hole would have been tough for even the Lebron’s to climb out of, so these end of game heroics are even more special. Lebron’s three will be one of his greatest career highlights, similar to MJ beating Craig Ehlo and the Cavs back in ‘89. Friggin’ unbelieveable.
Lebron’s shot also made Nike happy, as it kept their dream Kobe v Lebron final on track. They’ve been pimping the 24 v 23 in a new set of commercials, and I must say, Most Valuable Puppets is great marketing. I pray for Lakers v Cavs every night before I go to sleep, and so does Phil Knight.
Playoffs baby!

Lebron is a beast. 49 points… yet the Cavs lose. Looks like the Conf. Finals are going to be sick.

Well, Eminem has a new album dropping May 19th (for some reason its out on the 15th in Italy and Holland) and the NBA playoffs are in full swing, so I thought this would be a fitting video.
I’ve heard the new Eminem album and, much like MJ’s Bullets Wizards comeback, this legend should have stayed in the shadows. There’s nothing new on Relapse, and Em doesn’t even do a good job of recreating the old stuff. Also, I heard that Dre was putting in some serious dedication to this album. Sucks to be Dre, because after a couple listens I’m thinking Eminem isn’t the only legend slipping on this release. Hope he slangs alot of his new headphones, because I don’t think the royalties for Relapse will be anywhere near past Slim Shady albums.
I think the Clown Prince of Rap is on his last knees. Just like the Dallas Mavericks.
If you don’t believe me, listen to Eminem do some new tracks live on Jimmy Kimmel on the 15th, 19th and 22nd.

From last night’s Magic-Celtics game. Being a Lakers fan, I have often dreamt of slapping Eddie House (and his annoying son). And it looks like Rafer has downgraded from cutting people to slapping them. Good move.

Check out the winningest goalie in NHL history straight losing it at about the 1:00 minute mark. That’s probably the same reaction Brodeur’s wife ex-wife gave him when he told her he was sleeping with her sister.
Got to love the low-end Carolina fans throwing stuff at him. I also love it when NHL refs ignore the rules when it happens to be a game-winning goal. Brett Hull anyone?
