Beastie Boys perform “So Whatcha Want” with The Roots on Jimmy Fallon

The Beastie Boys were on with Jimmy Fallon last night and the little weasel managed to get them to perform “So Whatcha Want” live with the Roots Crew. Fallon’s show really sucks, but the music is top-notch.

According to Wikipedia, I’m about three years slow to this web gem. But how can I not post this?

Shout out to Kutos for hipping me to the good Reverend. I’d go to church everyday if this dude was running the show.

An all-time classic Lebron James moment

2009 seems destined to be the year of the King, as Lebron has been pulling out all the stops. Last night was just another example of his greatness, with LBJ somehow resurrecting his Cavs after Hedo Turkoglu had seemingly stuck a knife in Cleveland’s heart. A 2-0 hole would have been tough for even the Lebron’s to climb out of, so these end of game heroics are even more special. Lebron’s three will be one of his greatest career highlights, similar to MJ beating Craig Ehlo and the Cavs back in ‘89. Friggin’ unbelieveable.

Lebron’s shot also made Nike happy, as it kept their dream Kobe v Lebron final on track. They’ve been pimping the 24 v 23 in a new set of commercials, and I must say, Most Valuable Puppets is great marketing. I pray for Lakers v Cavs every night before I go to sleep, and so does Phil Knight.

Playoffs baby!

Lebron’s sick block on Dwight Howard

Lebron is a beast. 49 points… yet the Cavs lose. Looks like the Conf. Finals are going to be sick.

Mike Tyson talks ears, tattoos and more on Jimmy Kimmel

Whenever Mike Tyson comes on the Jimmy Kimmel Show, it is must see TV. Joining Jimmy to promote his new documentary “Tyson” (an awesome flick by the way, go see it), Mike waxes on trying to hurt Evander Holyfield, his original plan for his face tattoo and his new outlook on life. It’s a great interview and showcases a friendly, happy side of Iron Mike that was rarely seen in the past.

Mike is looking a little rotund, so any comeback talk woud be way of base. But it’s great to see one of the greatest athletes of all-time getting himself together.

And if you have never seen Mike Tyson on Jimmy Kimmel, watch the videos below for all you need to know:

Barry Zito’s Sweet Tweet of the Week

“So does it mean that I’m a full blown adult or just that I’m OCD when I cut my candle wicks to 1/4 inch length. Glad yall like Ritz too”

With Twitter-mania in full swing, celebs and athletes are flocking to the micro-blogger in order to connect with their fans. One of the best athlete threads is Barry Zito’s. Dude plays by his own rules and his twitter feed is no exception. Reading his tweets makes me think back on “Deep Thoughts” from SNL. We’ll be highlighting 75’s best tweet of the week every Friday, so make sure to come back for your weekly dose of enlightenment.

Comic Based on the Life of Heavyweight Champ Jack Johnson

I just discovered this earlier today as I was nerding out on the net but it’s actually been out for a few months now. Go to Comicmix.com to read all 11 issues of this excellent comic profiling the life of the first African-American Heavyweight champ, Jack Johnson.

For more information on Jack Johnson, be sure to check out Ken Burns’ documentary ‘Unforgivable Blackness: The Rise and Fall of Jack Johnson‘. Jack Johnson is an extremely important figure in boxing’s history and any boxing fan would be terribly remiss to pass on his story.

Eminem, Jimmy Kimmel and the NBA Playoffs

Well, Eminem has a new album dropping May 19th (for some reason its out on the 15th in Italy and Holland) and the NBA playoffs are in full swing, so I thought this would be a fitting video.

I’ve heard the new Eminem album and, much like MJ’s Bullets Wizards comeback, this legend should have stayed in the shadows. There’s nothing new on Relapse, and Em doesn’t even do a good job of recreating the old stuff. Also, I heard that Dre was putting in some serious dedication to this album. Sucks to be Dre, because after a couple listens I’m thinking Eminem isn’t the only legend slipping on this release. Hope he slangs alot of his new headphones, because I don’t think the royalties for Relapse will be anywhere near past Slim Shady albums.

I think the Clown Prince of Rap is on his last knees. Just like the Dallas Mavericks.

If you don’t believe me, listen to Eminem do some new tracks live on Jimmy Kimmel on the 15th, 19th and 22nd.

Manny Ramirez busted for steroids?!

The LA Times is reporting that Man-Ram has tested positive for performance enhancing drugs. So far, the drug he took has not been named but according to the article:

Ramirez is expected to attribute the test results to medication received from a doctor for a personal medical issue, according to a source familiar with matter but not authorized to speak publicly.

Manny is by far the biggest star since Raffy Palmeiro to actually get caught red-handed. I guess the Dodger mania that has gripped LA will be tempered by this devastating news.

Manny is the first Red Sox affiliated player to get pinched. Can his good buddy David Ortiz be far behind?

From last night’s Magic-Celtics game. Being a Lakers fan, I have often dreamt of slapping Eddie House (and his annoying son). And it looks like Rafer has downgraded from cutting people to slapping them. Good move.

Saturday night, Manny Pacquiao laid claim to the title of one of the greatest boxers of all-time with his absolute destruction of the pride of Manchester, Ricky Hatton. From the opening bell, it was evident that Hatton was going to be in big trouble as he kept charging in on Pac and would get cracked hard for his troubles. Pac counter-punched Hatton perfectly, culminating in two 1st round knockdowns. In the 2nd, Pacman let loose and connected with one of the most devastating punches ever. As I was watching I knew the fight was over the second glove hit chin. One of the best power punches I have ever seen, and even more impressive because it came from the man that many critics said would lose his power as he continued to move up in weight.

Pac pulled in a reported $12 million for his troubles and now the fight of the century appears to be on the horizon: Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. This fight would be absolutely epic and the winner would cement his place among the hall of legends. As a huge boxing fan, I pray this fight happens and that all sides agree that this is the fight to top all other fights.

Until then, the richest man in the Philipines is the pound-for-pound king. Does Mayweather have the cajoones to put his perfect record on the line? Stay tuned.

In celebration of the Pac-man’s victory, we rounded up some of his best work outside the ring.

Mayweather to Fight Marquez
May 1, 2009, 11:10 pm

ESPN.com’s Dan Rafael is reporting that Floyd Mayweather Jr. is expected to end his retirement tomorrow by announcing that he will fight Juan Manuel Marquez in July.

Marquez (50-4-1, 37 KOs) will come up in weight to face Mayweather (39-0, 25 KOs) in the 144 lb weight class.

Marquez, best known for his 2 epic battles with Manny Pacquiao, is currently ranked 2nd in Ring magazine’s Pound-for-Pound rankings.

The winner of the Marquez-Mayweather fight will likely face the winner of tomorrow night’s Pacquiao-Hatton fight. The likely, and most desirable, outcome is a Pacquiao-Mayweather super-bout. However, in the event of an upset in either fight, the possibility of Marquez-Pacquio III or Hatton-Mayweather II is also extremely intriguing.
